Everything you’ll want to know about motorcycle trikes and the trike kit conversion process.
What is a trike kit conversion?
A trike kit conversion is a process of installing a new trike kit suspension on your motorcycle. We remove your existing swing arm, tire, shocks, brake, etc and bolt on the new rear trike suspension. We also paint to match and install fiberglass bodies on the full independent suspension trike conversions. Our blog has some in-depth looks into the trike conversion process to show some custom projects we’ve completed.
What is the best trike kit?
The best trike kit depends on what motorcycle you have to start with. Different trike kits are available for different bikes. It will also depend on what your goals are with the trike. We recommend independent suspension trike kits with the complete fiberglass body for people looking for the most comfortable ride and long-distance traveling. If you want a more ‘hot rod’ style trike we have kits for that! Deciding between independent suspension kits can come down to which body style you like more. Or one kit offering an option others don’t such as running boards or an auxiliary fuel tank.
How much does a trike kit cost?
The cost to convert your motorcycle to a trike will vary depending on the trike kit being installed, options and accessories that are added to the trike and the motorcycle’s paint scheme. These estimates are very general, please contact us for more detailed estimates for your bike. Independent suspension kits: 19,000 - 25,000. Solid axle kits: 11,000 - 15,000. Outrigger style bolt on/off kits: 5,000 - 7,500 (you may be able to find those kits used). We do not recommend or install outrigger kits.
Do you have trikes for sale?
Yes, we do have trikes for sale. However, we strongly recommend looking into triking your current motorcycle if you have one!
I don’t see my motorcycle listed do you have a trike kit for it?
There is a possibility we can get a trike kit for your bike, but for less popular motorcycles, the trike kit will come down to what trike kit is available. We don’t manufacture any trike kits, but we have installed trike kits from every manufacturer.
How long does it take to convert a bike to a trike?
The paint and installation for base trike kits and a triple tree steering kit take ten business days. The longest part of the process is getting the trike kit to us from the manufacturer, as every trike kit is built to order specifically for your year, make, and model. It can take 5 - 6 months for us to receive your kit from the manufacturer.
What is the triple tree steering kit?
A triple tree steering kit is what we use to make the trike steer much easier. Very similar to the idea of power steering. Once we convert your bike to a trike, you will no longer be leaning into the corners. You will instead be turning the handlebars in the direction you want to go. The triple tree steering kit changes the angle the tire touches the ground, reducing the effort necessary to turn the handlebars. This ‘option’ is a must because without it you will not enjoy the riding experience nearly as much.
I have a trike without reverse, can you add reverse to it?
We have come up with a way to custom fit a reverse into some trike kit suspensions. Due to how custom this process is, it is on a case by case basis if it will be available for your bike. It would be best to contact us for more information.
Can you add a tour pack or fairing to my Road King / Softail during the trike kit conversion?
Absolutely. The trike conversion is a great time to add a tour pack or fairing to your bike.
